Tomorrow is the day - the first men's team going to Burundi to visit with Tirzah's Homecare Ministry Center and explore ministry possibilities with a group of street boys/young men needing skill training/discipleship/mentoring to fulfill their new calling in Christ. Many of these boys are the product of rape during the last genocide. Mothers often find it hard to accept children conceived under those circumstances and abandon them, leaving them to survive on their own on the streets. Seeking to survive, they turn to crime, drugs and whatever it takes to get by. Many of them (150+) have met Pastor Albin, an incredible evangelist, who also grew up on the streets and understands their situation, but whose life has been transformed by the love of Jesus. Daily he walks about town, sharing Jesus with anyone who will listen. His testimony is strong, real, and these young men see Jesus in him and have embraced the Savior for themselves. Now that they have come to know Jesus, they are hungry to grow not only in their faith, but also in their daily lives, learning how to legitimately support themselves and become strong, Godly men. It's difficult to do this when they have never had role models of what it means to be a Godly man, so this team of eight men are going with the purpose of meeting with Pastor Albin, these young men, and other leaders, to listen, pray and seek God's guidance in what He has for these young boys and men. What exciting prospects! We have been praying for these fellows for several years now and want to see them become Godly men, husbands and fathers, leading the way toward building Godly men for their country, just as God has provided for the women and girls at Homecare to fulfill their destiny as His daughters.
Follow along with us during this time in Burundi as we have special meetings and divine appointments there. Pray with and for us as we seek God's will, that we will listen carefully, have discernment, and be creatively inspired. We know God has gone before us; we are confident that He is with us. We know He loves these young men and has a future and a hope for them. May we be listeners, learners, pray-ers, and encouragers to our friends in Burundi. They always encourage and inspire us. We will try to post on the blog each day so you can follow along with us and pray. Thanks for joining us on this journey!
Woo hoo!!! It's such a joy to see men going to Burundi. Both the young men and women there have a great need for strong men who will lead them with kindness. I'll be praying for y'all to sense and respond to God's prompting while you're there. Praying, too, for His protection over your spiritual, physical, and emotional health. What an awesome team God has put together!
